On March 8th, International Women's Day, we celebrate the achievements of women everywhere and acknowledge the unique challenges and opportunities faced by women in the world. There is no one answer to the question of why women experience discrimination and inequality in the world. But there are many factors that contribute, including cultural and social norms, gender-based discrimination and violence, economic inequality, and the glass ceiling. Despite these challenges, women have made tremendous progress over the past century. In countries around the world, women have achieved a wide range of rights and opportunities, including the right to vote, own property, work, education, and participate in politics.
